Well, supporting a football club is alike how you treat your wife.
When your team wins, you celebrate like crazy.
When your wife is in good mood, you share her joy.
When your team loses, you accept defeat and move on. You stick to your team through thick and thin.
If your wife is going thru a bad patch, you don't leave her. You believe and continue supporting her. No matter how heavy the storm, it will pass.
Yeap, one thing's for sure. It's taboo to change or convert. For me, its Manchester United! Till death do us part. Just like marriage. "Why do you support Manchester United?" I was asked. I never had an answer. It's the feeling you get whenever "The Theater of Dreams" is mentioned;
When you see the players lining up in the tunnel;
When you hear the crowd roar;
(Whenever someone mentions the name of your crush, your heart skips a beat too yea? HAHA.)
And nope, they weren't the first team I watched, the first's actually Arsenal. Dad's favourite. haha. Back then, Henry, Bergkamp and co. were slicing back fours apart like hot knife through butter! Just didnt have the connection with them. You don't love a girl just because she's pretty yea? Same theory. Wasn't meant to be. It was a different story with United.
Maybe it's love at first sight. Engraved somewhere deep in my memories, I was primary 4 when I watched the first United game. I even pronounced "Giggs" as "Giggles"! LOL. Then there's O'Shea on the same flank as Giggs. Back then he wasn't this bad :(
Never knew it would be such a defining moment in ma life. Became a hardcore Red Devil, nv looked back since!
The first ever player to have a major influence in my life would be Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Totally mesmerised by his goal scoring ability, I cut out newspaper pictures of him and pasted them on my wall, only to be scolded by mommy LOL. Still rmb his RVN10 website too! haha!
(Like how you'll place your other half's photo in your wallet LOL )
3.22am already. I'll end this soon~
One thing that I dislike about some Manutd fans.. A number of them are merely Glory Hunters. They support just because we're successful. They know nuts about the vast history of this club. Worst of all, some broke the ultimate rule. They switched loyalty to become one of us. What is this man.. Stop boasting about the past loyalties, it doesn't really reflect well on your character yea?
(Actually this is the exact reason why I respect Liverpool fans.(No matter how noisy, how irritating) They stick to their team no matter what. True football lovers' spirit :D)
Lastly, My wallpaper.
One day. One day. I'll stand in the middle of the field and shout: "I AM IN OLD TRAFFORD!!!" :')
Pardon the bad sentence structure! English deproved tremendously ever since I got into poly. Will blog more and try to improve ma Engrish.hehe.
Nights! 4am already. Training with Harry and JS at 11am. Holy crap!
